is it possible that hondou eisuke underwent a bone marrow transplant? and the transplant donor was done by his sister, that explains how his blood type may have changed and how he took blood from his sister......

if he was blood type AB+ he could receive blood from any type at all. if what his sister said he has blood type O- which is the universal donator... all blood types can accept O- blood. that's why if he WAS O- anytime a doctor saw him, they'd tell him... donate as often as possible and healthy for you!

seriously, they would be hounding him, checking on him, calling him at home, contacting his guardian, all. the. time. O- people should give blood all. the. time. :>

i myself am O+ ;) i've known about this since i was a tiny tiny child because my parents have incompatible blood types for siring a child. so my mother had to be treated with a few carefully prescribed and dosed drugs so that i wasn't injured by blood contamination in the womb. i also can ONLY receive a type O blood, such as my Rh + marker or the O- marker i mentioned earlier.

more than one doctor has suggested i 'bank' my own blood over the years. ;) heh. ;) but since my O+ is the most common type of blood (37% - 53% of people in different ethnic and racial groups have it) i've always shrugged that off because i know the docs are just looking to give my 'banked' blood away to patients other than me. ;>

so i'm not the universal donator, but to folks with the Rh factor matching mine, i'm a pretty handy walking, talking, bag of blood. :> heh! :>

unfortunately you're partially correct but entirely wrong too. there's no need to bone marrow transplant a child who got hit by a car. that's just entirely impractical and improbable. unless the child caught a 'super bug' in the hospital while the child was being treated. one of the drug resistant pathogens that specifically target/attack bone marrow. but that list is INCREDIBLY short.

if he was transplanted his body's cells, like his organs skin and such, would be his own but his marrow AND blood genetically! just GENETICALLY! would be from a family member. or the rare (but not impossible) donation from the various world-wide marrow registries.

almost all bone marrow donators and recipients are closely related genetically. a sibling donating to another sibling, both with the EXACT same parents, WOULD be the second highest probable donator. if the patient has an identical twin then that would be a nigh on PERFECT match. since both the patient and the donator would be nearly the same person in their DNA.

then the tests are expanded to the patients' parents, then their parents' parents and siblings, and at the furthest remove their aunts' and uncles' children. blood types are only the FIRST of MANY steps in the bone marrow testing process.

the primary form of marrow matching is Human Leukocyte Antigen markers present on the tissue or cells. there are several HLA markers which make every individual’s type unique and hence it can be identified with ease. the immune system can recognize the cells from the HLA encoded over it. a possible donator must possess 4 of the 6 markers in HLA that align with similar markers in the patient.

for the persons who volunteer to become donors (outside of their family) their specific markers are registered and later on the markers required for any patient can be fulfilled by a particular registered donor.

additionally, modern medicine has moved forwards from 'physical insertion of donated marrow' to creating the marrow in a lab using stem cells extracted from a large amount of blood taken from the donator.

basically, if there is enough time before the patient kicks the bucket the tested donator goes in and gives up a few pints of blood. the blood is filtered carefully to separate the stem cells from the rest of the blood. then those cells are 'encouraged' to change into bone marrow. if an extended period of time is available, the donator returns periodically and provides more blood for even more stem cells to be found and 'encouraged'.

of course for the fast and easy route ie. your family member is approaching death's door, extracting the marrow itself and causing the cells to multiply in a lab is the best option.
